MAXQDA DEEP-DIVING OF QUALITATIVE DATA ANALYSIS USING CLIMATE AND HEALTH INDICATORS
Background
In order that non-quantifiable variables are captured in a robust manner using qualitative data, such as the lived experiences, perceptions, and context-specific vulnerabilities, various analytical tools are emerging to strengthen both scientific and policy arguments using qualitative data. However, many researchers lack the practical skills in doing so and in ensuring confidence in and robustness of the narratives that emerge from qualitative data, and underlain by difficulty in systematically analysing such data.
Goal
This training introduces participants to qualitative data analysis using MAXQDA, focusing on coding, thematic development, and interpretation. A climate and health dataset (as may be applied to any similar dataset beyond climate and health context) will be used to enable participants to gain hands-on experience in organising interview transcripts, applying codes, and generating robust outcomes and related applications in decision-making.
Learning Outcomes
Improved skills in qualitative data analysis using MAXQDA
Enhanced ability to code and develop themes from qualitative data
Stronger capacity to analyse lived experiences and context-specific vulnerabilities
Improved ability to generate robust evidence for climate and health decision-making
Increased confidence in organising, interpreting, and presenting qualitative findings
Requirements
Participants can come from all development-related disciplines and sectors
Minimum First Degree / Professional qualification in any discipline
Bring Your Own Laptop with a functioning installation of MAXQDA (installation guide will be provided prior to the workshop)
