ROUNDTABLE
BEYOND COP30: NAVIGATING ACCOUNTABILITY UNDER THE BELÉM HEALTH ACTION PLAN

Background Information:
The adoption of the Belém Health Action Plan at COP30 signals growing recognition that climate change is fundamentally a health systems and development challenge. Yet the long-term success of BHAP will depend not merely on political endorsement, but on accountability, monitoring, and implementation across national and subnational institutions. Persistent gaps in climate-health surveillance, adaptation financing, governance coordination, and resilience metrics will be under intense scrutiny to ensure progress, especially in climate-vulnerable settings, and attainment of the SDGs. Hence there is the need to define and establish clear indicators that match other development metrics in minimizing gaps.

Target Audience and Goal:
Intended for academics, policymakers, climate negotiators, public health agencies, donors, and development institutions, this Roundtable explores the governance and accountability dimensions of BHAP implementation. Thus, providing a forum to assess the use of indicators such as SOSCHI and related institutional reforms that are needed to ensure BHAP translates into transformative climate-health action at country levels.
